Denison swimmers have posted 8 Olympic Trial Qualifying Performances.

The Denison men's swimming and diving team defeated Calvin College but suffered a narrow defeat to NCAA Division II power, Wayne State on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

The Big Red totaled four event victories on Saturday as Andy Catlin took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.29.  The win in the 200 breaststroke went to Andy Brabson in 2:17.11 and first-year Dan Thurston placed first in the 400 IM.

To close out the meet Denison's 400 free relay team which was comprised of Andrew Krawchyk, Mike Barczak, John Geissinger and Thurston touched in 3:12.32 to top their B-team by two seconds.

The Denison women's swimming and diving team defeated Calvin College but suffered a close loss to NCAA Division II opponent, Wayne State on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

Denison totaled six event victories in their 164-79 win over Calvin and their 122.5-118.5 loss to the Warriors.

Olivia Zaleski took first place in the 200 backstroke and was a part of the 400 free relay squad along with Laurel Brabson, Breanna Gordon and Kate Rich that touched in 3:37.85.

Senior Kristen Hohl placed first in the 50 freestyle in 25.31 seconds and Bethany Sabourin was the winner in the 400 IM.  Denison's final two victories on the day came from freshman Hilary Callen in the 1000 and 500 freestyles.

Cody Smith obtained his second national cut score on Saturday with 276.50 in the 3m event.
