Team Information; Swimming Training & Practice Schedules Denison's swimming program incorporates a comprehensive training program which focuses on developing the aerobic, anaerobic, strength, power and technical abilities of the swimmers. Workouts are research based and are applied as individually as possible. The season begins in mid-September and extends to mid-March. Our training program includes 10 workouts per week, with each session being purposeful in its training design and goals. The training program is divided into three different groups -distance, middle distance, and sprint. While most swimmers train with one group throughout the season, some move from one group to another on a daily basis. While training times overlap, each group follows a unique training protocol designed to meets its needs. While the men and women train separately in the mornings, the two teams train together in the afternoons. Dryland training, in addition to our weight training, is regularly used throughout the season. A winter training trip during January is a season highlight. Like the swimmers, the Denison divers enjoy a comprehensive training program that focuses on the development of the complete diver. The program's workouts include regular strength training, videotaping and one-to-one practice sessions with the coaching staff.
